Cruising Instructor

Having sailed a huge variety of yachts from traditional cruisers to modern racers, Daniel can get onboard and quickly figure out how to make your boat work for you. Whether it is tuition getting in and out of your birth, cruising a little bit further, pulling up your spinnaker, the basics of sail trim or polishing up your man overboard drill we can help onboard your own boat.

The first step in teaching within the practical cruising scheme is to become qualified as an RYA Cruising Instructor. This enables you to teach RYA Competent Crew and Day Skipper courses with an RYA Recognised Training Centre.

You should be an experienced Yachtmaster Offshore with a thorough knowledge at this level. A depth of knowledge above the RYA syllabus is necessary. Without extensive experience candidates are unlikely to be successful on a Cruising Instructor course.

The syllabus is broken down into instructional techniques, knowledge, safety and personal skills and taught in a ratio of (4:1) students to instructor.
