RYA Radio SRC / VHF course
This course is a requirement in order to be allowed to use a marine VHF radio.
This one day RYA shorebased course covers the basics of radio operation, frequencies, distress, emergency and medical assistance procedures, making ship to shore telephone calls, Digital Selective Calling and Global Maritime Distress Safety System.
Some homework and reading will be issued before the course to ensure that the full syllabus can be covered in 1 day.
The exam
SRC exams consist of a written theory exam and assessment in the practical use of marine VHF radios The exam fee is payable to the RYA.
