RYA Competent Crew

The RYA crewing course is for those new to sailing who want to become competent crew members rather than just passengers. On completion of RYA Competent Crew you should be able to steer the yacht, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day to day routines onboard a sailing yacht.
The course will take place on the Firth of Clyde where you will find some of the best sailing in Scotland.

Course content:
Knowledge of sea terms and parts of a boat, her rigging and sails, sail handling, ropework, fire precautions and fighting, personal safety equipment, man overboard, emergency equipment, meteorology, seasickness, helmsmanship, general duties, manners
Ability after course:
Able to steer, handle sails, keep a lookout, row a dinghy and assist in all the day to day routines
Minimum age: 18
Course starts: Sunday 19:30 @ Largs, Scotland.
This course can also be completed over 3 weekend cruises.
